It all started Monday evening during warmups. I was hitting a ball on the right side, but while jumping my left knee just started hurting like never before. I landed on my right foot, and skipped away from the court knowing this was something different.
After an evening of ice packs and pain I hoped it would be better the next day, it didn’t. Later the next day I saw a doctor (Lasse), and he subscribed me som medicine to ease the pain and the swelling. And already after one pill it got better, but we still decided to check out what had happened.
So this Thursday Hafsteinn, one of the icelandic twins, drove me to Vejle for a consultation at the hospital there.
I talked to one doctor before Lasse came, and he said I was lucky to know Lasse. If not I would probably not have gotten an x-ray, or any kind of treatment. Lucky indeed, cause when they looked at the pictures later they saw something similar to my photoshop picture above.
A tiny piece of the lower part of my patella had been broken off. That means, according to Lasse, approximately six weeks without jumping. In three weeks we will do the scans again to see if the bone heals as it should.
During this period I will lose two really important matches. Gentofte away, and the semifinal in the cup against Aalborg. I will hopefully be recovered when I get back from christmas break. That’s when we’ll meet Middelfart for the second time this year.
