It’s still a little bit strange to think about it. But eight days ago (at the time of me writing this) I sat on the bench hoping we would win the cup final against Gentofte. I was hoping not to play at all, cause that ment Steen would dominate!
And Steen started out dominating in the first set, but headed into trouble in the second set and even though Steen still played a good game we needed a change of momentum. Pets and I was subbed in, and the subs seemed to work. Even though we lost the second set, we still changed the momentum of the game back to the way it was in the first set.
The rest of the game just went our way, and even though Gentofte tried to change their game with some subs they never got back the momentum.

We celebrated that Sunday well aware that we had to start working the day after, because we had just started on the toughest week so far this season.
Nyborg had a similar week. They won the Norwegian cup final on Saturday against Førde and had one clear goal for the Nordic Club Championship, to become champions.
And they gave us a fight for the championship. We started out a little bit better, but they came back both times we went ahead. It all came down to the fifth set. During the game we showed how well our squad fits together. Steen and I changed lots of times during the game, the same did Brett and Pets. The fifth set ended in a 15-12 victory. A good game by both teams.

The next game was against Middelfart, a team we never actually know how to play against. They play a different kind of volleyball then we do, and always seems to get the best out of them against us. And especially their passers were good this game.
We had, in my opinion, one of our best serving games ever. But they showed that they also deserved to be in the Nordic final, with some amazing passers. The game ended in a 3-1 victory to us.

Yet again we would play the most important game against Gentofte. And it was a really tough game. The statistics showed two teams prepared to do everything in their power to get that trophy. The game went back and forth, but in the end we came out as champions after a 15-10 victory in the fifth set.

This Friday I made my comeback after a couple of months on the sidelines with a bad knee. I played the first two sets in a game we won comfortably 3-0 at home against Aarhus.
The weekend was spent at the sports exibition “Sports Lørdag” with award ceremonies and a banquet dinner. We were together with a lot of other athletes greeted as the special guests after becoming Danish Champions last year.
This weeks focus will be on the cup final on sunday. We are meeting Gentofte, who at the moment are second in the league with one less match played.
Last years final was my first match as a Marienlyst player. I came in twice and served a total of three serves, one ace. The picture above is of Pets (my flatmate) celebrating with the trophy!

Yesterday was a big day for me. I have been out of the game for at least a month and was finally ready to return in some fashion. Morning practice was a passing practice, no jumping and just getting some well needed touches both in free balls and serving.
The evening practice would be the one that would test my knee. Starting with a 1 1/2 hour long strength session with weight- and balance-training, then off to 2 hours of playing.
After a sick game of Hackebao (might have been spelled wrong) by my team, it was time to jump. I was really scared of overdoing it, but I managed to keep my vertical leap at about 20-30 cm. It didn’t hurt at all, but I only joined for the warm up hitting. After I played libero for a bit before going out to ice down. Close to five hours of practice on a knee just back from rest felt like enough.
This morning my knee feels good. Even though my legs are tired, they don’t hurt at all. Todays practices will be CCS and some easy squats before a two hour practice later in the evening.

    Day 3-20

20 days have gone since I had the injection in my knee. I celebrated christmas, and came back to check with the doctor what the results were. And he was very pleased! The tendon had improved drastically and looked close to completely healthy. The are still some irritation caused by the Osgood-Schlatters, but apart from that I should be able to start jumping 100% in a few days.

Right now it’s all about getting rid of some of the bad habits my body has adjusted into because of the pain I felt. My muscles are there, but they won’t tense up, and needs to be activated again. So I will have to do a lot of balance training and decline squats.

Today will be my first practice participating with a little bit of jumping. I have really disliked being away from the court, and look forward to a good monday practice.

    Day 2

After a good night of sleep the knee feels okey. I can almost move it as normal, but specially in a straight position it hurts if I keep it there for long. It’s almost gone back to the same way it was before the treatment. The swelling is gone, but I can now sense that there is something inside the kne that is not like it should be.

The next days the first healing process should start, and in just a couple of days I should be able to use a bike again.

Not moving is extremely boring. Next update will be if something changes.
